Joey Skelton

Singer - Songwriter - Drums/Percussion

Once upon a time, in a not so far distant land, once inhabited by Cherokee Indians, there was a new son born into the Skelton family. The oldest of three other siblings, he was brought into this world already an "underdog". Bad blood forced him to fight for his life to maintain a presence among the human race, while at the same time trying to figure out why the heck baby food tastes so-o-o bad! As he grew up in Florida, Tennessee, Wyoming and California (all during the same year!) he had to learn how to cope with himself and the others who also suffered from "Militarious Brattinoma". This disease is predominantly brought on by having at least one of your parents serving as a guardian of our nation. The biggest side effect of this disease is losing your friends every other month.

His music career all began when he was in the third grade; he was picked to be the bongo player for the school’s Hawaiian Song & Dance Show, because he looked like he was good at beating on things in a controlled manner. This renown came from all the scolding his teachers gave him for breaking pencils on edges of desktops playing the rage of all future drummers, "Wipeout"!!!

Many, many years later this Bongo Madman made a lateral move to playing drums and decided to take his talent to the people. In contests throughout the land, he out-drummed many of those who thought they were the best. He eventually decided to end this solo career and actually play with other people who didn't play bongos or drums.

This landed him many relentless days & nights learning a myriad of songs and rhythms, playing in a sundry of venues, and with other artists of nearly every human creed that exists upon this big blue marble. He was happy in his obscurity, until one day someone named Daniel called and asked if he wanted to play for a newly formed band called “REAL”. He thought to himself: "Let's see…I work 60 hours/week instructing hard-headed students the joys of fixing computers. Taking care of a wife, three kids, and a dog named Rico hasn't been a piece of cake either. Coupled with keeping up part-time with other bands, all with enough busy-ness to make me wanna be the most laziest you-know-what in the world… …”

OK why not!?, I've got nothin' else goin' on!" So he called up Steve Cropper, Vince Gil, Chuck Berry, Billy Joe Royal, Buddy Davis, The Jackson Trio, Lonesome Road, Richochet, Flashing Yellow, Parasitic Draw, Southern Lights, The Prospectors and Soultryst and told them he was given an offer he couldn't refuse and would be too busy to play with them any more (They are all still in denial). The rest is REAL history.
